American University’s 2011 Campus Plan
Reported by: Allison Kind
American University released its new 2011 campus plan on January 24th. The new plan suggests growing American University’s campus by 750,000 square feet. It also suggests a new East Campus in replace of the 900-spot outside Nebraska Parking Lot that would include new dorms, classrooms and campus buildings. If approved, the plan would also move the Washington College of Law from its current spot down Massachusetts Avenue to the Tenley Campus. While the new changes can advance AU’s campus, many students think current buildings need remodeling and renovations before new buildings are built. The Advisory Neighborhood Commission is set to meet over the next few weeks to discuss the plan and the potential changes it will bring to the surrounding communities.
