Mubarak Steps Down After Protests in Egypt

Shefali Kapadia reports on the current political situation in Egypt. Egyptians citizens demonstrated in Tahrir Square in Cairo with street rioting and protesting again PresidentHosni Mubarak. The President’s 30-year reign ended on February 11, 2011, due to pressure from the Egyptian people.
Other countries in North Africa and the Middle East continue to stage protests against their respective governments with street demonstrates, rallies and rioting.
The United States has not developed a firm stance on the situation in the Middle East. American University students following the situation agree that the US needs to make a definite decision about their role in the Middle East. Students also hope that the end of Mubarak’s regime will lead to democracy and free elections for Egypt.
