Juliegrace Brufke and Jenny Christine cover American University’s co-ed a capella group Dime A Dozen. Dime is the only on campus co-ed a capella group and has been established for over ten years at AU. They sing everything form Queen, to songs from musicals to Ke$ha and Lady Gaga.
Recently, because of a mix up with student activities, Dime was told that they were $200.00 in debt with student activities. But over the course of one week, they applied for new funding, received money from Student Activity sponsorship and raised over $250.00 from CD selling and paid performances on Valentines Day. Treasurer Jenny Haining says the group could not be prouder of their accomplishments as a group.
Because they figured out their funding, Dime will now be able to go on a New York City tour in April, where they will be performing at and with various colleges in NYC. Other performances this year will include their end of the year concert at American, the singing of the National Anthem at various AU sporting events, various impromptu performances in MGC, and their performance with the Catholic University a capella group at their festival in the spring.
