Next fall, AU’s Housing and Dining plans to house on-campus students by grade level. Reporter Keshia Butts and Laura Brown cover students’ reactions to the new housing system.
Housing and Dining aims to organize more grade-specific activities based on the new housing system.
Students noticed changes in the housing system during room selection, organized this year by a lottery system. All rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors were required to participate in the lottery system to secure on-campus housing or off-campus university-sponsored housing for next year.
This year, Letts Hall became freshman-only. Letts remains reserved for incoming freshman next year, along with Clark and Roper Halls. Rising sophomores could select from all other housing on-campus, as well as the Berkshire apartments owned by AU. Rising juniors and seniors could select only from the 400 apartments in Nebraska, two levels on Centennial, the Berkshire apartments, and limited rooms in Anderson, Leonard, and McDowell Halls. All students made selections based on randomly assigned lottery numbers.
